NZ’s first specialist degree in sustainable practice

NZ’s first specialist degree in sustainable practice will be based in Wanaka from next year. The Wanaka Sun ran this story on Thursday.

Steve Henry, manager of Otago Polytechnic’s Centre for Sustainable practice said, “While it’s taken only 18 months to get Tertiary Education approval of the course, the new qualification represents years of work. We’ve been doing lots of projects around sustainable business and community development and the time has come to put it into a qualification.”

First Carrotmob in NZ?

What is a carrotmob? You might think it’s a bunch of ‘gingas’ getting together for a party! Full respect to any carrot-tops reading this post ;-) A carrotmob by the folks who launched the idea is actually “a network of consumers who buy products in order to reward businesses who are making the most socially responsible decisions” – check out the sweet little animated video on their homepage. If you look at the locations list, no NZ communities have set one up yet – which NZ location is going to take up the challenge first?
